Only a week left! Please share anywhere you can!

I don't think we're going to make the stretch goal sadly but I'll still try to get the Kirin pin made in the future. Maybe a Kickstarter just for it?

And now for something a little different. My husband and I are getting into the world of jewelry making. We are working on some designs in sterling silver

Here are 2 of our designs. An owl and a classic Thor's hammer. We've been talking about the idea of doing a jewelry Kickstarter to help make more pendants, but I'm not 100% sure yet. As of right now these 2 designs can be pre-ordered for $40 each FREE US shipping and to Kickstarter backers I'll throw in a free silver chain (a $10 value) So if anyone is interested just let me know.

Oh and check out these 2 awesome Kickstarters!

Fu Dog Folklore & Artwork Sample
over 6 years ago – Thu, Nov 16, 2017 at 08:31:48 PM

Chinese guardian lions or Imperial guardian lions, often called "Foo Dogs" or "Fu Dogs" in the West, are a common representation of the lion in imperial China.

The concept, which originated and became popular in Chinese Buddhism, subsequently spread to other parts of Asia including, Japan, Korea, Tibet, Thailand, Burma, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia and Laos.

Since the introduction of the lion symbolism from Indian culture especially through Buddhist symbolism, statues of guardian lions have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the Han dynasty (206 BC – AD 220), and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.

When I lived in San Fransico I always loved visiting the lions that stand at the gate to China Town. Why I went with I love Fu Dogs was simply because it would fit better on the pin. Sadly I love guardian lions was a bit too long.

I wanted to share a few sample of some of my part sold toned paper artwork. Again I can draw a creature in a cute or a realistic style just for you ^_^

Kitsune Folklore & Sneak Peek
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 15, 2017 at 07:39:20 PM

The rough sketch of the Kitsune Pin. For colors I was thinking the colors of traditional fox, reddish brown with black and white colors. On this one the lantern will most likely be something other than red, so it doesn't blend too much with the foxes color. Also the lantern will change a little to fit the text.

Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. Foxes are a common subject of Japanese folklore; in English, kitsune refers to them in this context. Stories depict them as intelligent beings and as possessing magical abilities that increase with their age and wisdom. According to Yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shape shift into human form.

While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others—as foxes in folklore often do—other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives.

Foxes and human beings lived close together in ancient Japan; this companionship gave rise to legends about the creatures. Kitsune have become closely associated with Inari, a Shinto kami or spirit, and serve as its messengers. This role has reinforced the fox's supernatural significance. The more tails a kitsune has—they may have as many as nine—the older, wiser, and more powerful it is. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make offerings to them as to a deity.

We're getting super close to the Kirin goal, and if it's reached I'll color and finalize the Phoenix pin, to show it next. If those goals are not reached this time around I might just do another Kickstarter for those designs alone, with smaller goals. The joy of Kickstarter is a little bit of trying new things and seeing what works ^_^

Oh and be sure to check out this awesome Kickstarters by an awesome artist!

New rewards added & Kirin Sneak Peek!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Nov 14, 2017 at 01:57:07 PM

I hope we can unlock this design before it ends! To boost the Kickstarter I've added a limited number of original artwork rewards.

Now if you want original artwork you can do it one of 2 ways.

1.) As an add-on but you MUST let me know so I can update the quantity available. Sense these are both limited rewards & I don't want to over sell by mistake ^_^ So if you want to add them just send me a quick message of the one you would like to add & I'll update it, simple.

To see how to do add-ons check update #5

Or

2.) You can change your reward to the artwork, and then do any other items you might have wanted as add ons.

New rewards!
New rewards!

And the Kirin Print can also be an add-on for just $5

I'll also be using Backerkit for this one to help keep any add-ons organized, plus if you miss anything you'll be able to add it when you fill out your Backerkit survey.

And while it's not a Kickstarter, an artist friend of mine is taking pre-orders for her new book! So if you love dragons be sure to check it out! https://www.kamakru.com/dragonbrushed/

Yay we're funded!!! Thank you all so much for your support! It's always amazing to know that people really like my art, like enough to buy it. Now hopefully we can unlock more designs before the end.

Any type of rewards you would like to see added? Original artwork? Maybe some original pen and ink drawings? Die cut sticker sets?

Let me know your ideas ;)
